Tennessee Trails & Byways Program: Linking Williamson & Maury Counties

Downtown Franklin was the center of Tennessee today, when Governor Phil Bredesen and an array of government leaders held a press conference on the Square to announce the Tennessee Trails & Byways program.

Bredesen spoke of the importance of the new Trails & Byways program, which will link sites in Williamson and Maury counties initially, to a crowd of a hundred or so citizens, as well as several reporters from area newspapers and television stations. Gov. Bredesen was joined onstage by Commissioner of Tourist Development Susan Whitaker, Commissioner of Transportation Gerald Nicely, Commissioner of Economic and Community Development Matt Kisber and local Convention and Vistiors Bureau Executive Director Mark Shore.  Noted area preservationist Aubrey Preston also spoke and welcomed the Trail & Byways program into Williamson County.
