Last week, the results of the 2007 of the Tennessee Association of Fairs Conference were reported.
Williamson County Mayor Rogers Anderson announced that the Williamson County Fair won a first-place trophy for the fair's website.
The site, developed by JLB WORKS, has been in place for two years. This is the first year that the Williamson County Fair has submitted the site to the TAFC for competition.
The site architecture is built on an XHTML/CSS model, with strict Web 2.0 engineering. It has been integrated with a Content Management System (CMS), called SiteMason, and as such, is founded on an XSL template. The CMS is predicated on PHP and MySQL databases and is also hosted with SiteMason. The CMS allows Fair volunteers to udpate and maintain site pages, as needed.
Initial site development was completed in early 2006 and was the result of a collaborative process, between JLB WORKS, Sitening, Southern Belle Design and SiteMason.
The website graphics were revised in 2007, as part of a new marketing campaign. The graphic updates, created by Southern Belle, were easily translated into the website layout, becuase of site's CSS engineering. In fact, it is the goal of JLB to update the Fair's website with a "fresh" look each year, in accordance with annual shifts in the Fair's marketing strategy.

Other notables: Out of 57 fairs, Williamson County's Fair won six first place trophies, one second and one third place ribbon. First place trophies went to the fair’s website, catalog, letterhead, sweatshirt, hat and T-shirt. Ribbons were awarded for the fair guide and the scrapbook.
