Apple, You Had Me At, "Hello"

I admit, I am an Apple fanboy through and through.  They could sell me a cat turd as long as it came in aesthetically pleasing, with a little white Apple sticker.

Once again, I find myself in another post-WWDC droolfest, giddy with excitement at the thought of making a new Apple purchase–a 13.3" MacBook Pro.  It’s small, it’s fast, it’s CHEAP and it’s oh-so-beautiful.

I still remember that wonder day mid-2004 when I made my first truly new Apple purchase, a 12" PowerBook G4 to replace the 12" iBook G3 I’d been using for a few years.  The aluminum was sturdy, showing no fingerprints, the keys felt firm under my fingers and the speakers blew the iBook out of the water.  If all this wasn’t good enough, my new PowerBook had so much power packed into such a wonderfully portable machine.

Before getting back to my point, a little more back-story is in order (I promise it all comes back around)…

A year after using my PowerBook, I decided to get into a bit of graphic design, which was quite painful on a 12" screen.  So, logically, I upgraded for the middle of the line PowerBook, a 15" G4.  The design phase quickly passed and I went back to my development roots (and in the process tried once again for compact with a 13" black MacBook).

I still have my little black ‘Book today; her name is Juliana and she has treated me quite well.  However, I never have stopped regretting getting rid of both the power notebook and… aluminum.  Granted, I could buy another 12" PowerBook, but that’s just not enough these days.  I could also have bought a newer aluminum MacBook a couple months ago, but there just wasn’t enough draw there to get me to drop the cold, hard cash…

[Enter Aluminum 13.3" MacBook Pro]

Oh holy night! How is it that 3 more letters (and quite a bit better hardware) have me fiending for a new Apple notebook?  I’m not terribly sure, but I know that I need one.

I realize that all this info may not be terribly useful or necessarily even that interesting.  However, I use it as a preface to what shall come in a few weeks… A JLBster’s In-depth Look At Apple’s Newest Wonder : The 13-inch MacBook.

Be on the lookout ya’ll!
